Horizon Terminal Services, the terminal operating company under Höegh Autoliners, won the Terminals and Ports Operator Award, at the Automotive Global Awards Ceremony, held on April 7. The Awards were successfully hosted by the international media company Three6Zero at the Mandarin Hotel in Las Vegas, USA

The Jury said;

Horizon Terminal Services Freeport is a newly-built Terminal Operations and Vehicle Processing Facility at the Port of Freeport, Texas. Since the official opening in June 2015 as a fully-serviced RoRo port, Freeport has helped OEMs within the US Gulf area to shorten distribution lead times, reduce supply chain costs, alleviate pressure on inland transportation and has had a positive impact on the environmental footprint with a potential reduction of up to 70% of CO₂ emissions. With the establishment of Freeport, Höegh Autoliners has taken the true supply chain perspective: multiple parties in the chain coming together and creating the solution.

Per Folkesson, President Horizon Terminal Services, received the award on behalf of the Company;

It is a great honour to receive this Award. I take this as a poof of that we have succeeded in our ambition to create an effective new gateway for the Automotive Industry in and out of to the South Western states of the US. This is a fast growing area and our terminal solution comes as a response to difficult and costly inland haulages to and from the congested East and West coast ports. We have only been in operation for nine months, but can show to good results in saving cost and environment in the supply chain for our customers.

In conjunction with the Awards Ceremony, the fourth-annual Automotive Leaders’ Summit was arranged. Here, about 200 of the top automotive supply chain executives from around the globe met to discuss subjects that affect the global supply chain. During the Leaders’ Summit, Per Folkesson held a speech on the topic of “What Drives Complexity in the Supply Chain”:

Supply Chain complexity is a very broad topic and we wanted to highlight a couple of scenarios which we see impacting the supply chain negatively, related to manufacturing for export sales. The industry need to address and achieve a more balanced and predictable production flow to the ports, it’s one of the pillars operating an efficient supply chain.
