COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update – 27 April
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause disruptions, affecting people and businesses around the globe and our thoughts go out to those impacted. In this volatile situation, we continue to work hard to find the best possible solutions for our customers and sustain our ocean service.
To safeguard our employees and limit infection in the community, we have taken precautionary measures and have modified our work environment. This means most of our land-based employees work remotely to serve our customer requests and ensure business continuity. To ensure the safety of our crew we maintain stringent health and safety routines on board and in port.
In terms of ports and terminals around the world, all are operating. However, with many ports extending lockdown periods we continue to see reduced labour availability, which is slowing down operations considerably in certain locations. Whilst we may experience slight disruptions in some ports, we will endeavour to maintain a timely service to our customers.
As we see factories in some regions re-opening at the end of the month due to the lifting of lockdown restrictions, other regions have extended their lockdown periods. Consequently, we anticipate continued weak volumes the next weeks, and have updated our schedules to reflect this. We understand this is a challenging situation for everyone, and we continue to work with our customers to find the best possible solutions, while maintaining our ocean service.
