News

Meet My Linh Vu, our new Maritime Trainee who will be part of the Höegh Autoliners team and will work through rotations across our business functions to gain first-hand knowledge about our business operations.

Having participated in the Maritime Trainee program provided by the Norwegian Shipowners' Association (NSA) since 2005, we are pleased to introduce the first of two candidates that will be joining our company in 2018.

Originally, from Vietnam, My Linh wanted a different country to perform her higher education and chose Norway for its nature and liberal society. My Linh completed her bachelor degree in Business Administration, majoring in Shipping Management from BI Norwegian Business School and has a Master Degree in Business Administration majoring in Finance from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

Maritime Trainee, My Linh Vu

Why did you apply to the Maritime Trainee Programme?

I believe Maritime Trainee offers a very strong start for my career. The programme provides deep insights into the shipping industry by combining different academic modules that take place in major global shipping hubs with practical experiences from working with a leading shipping company. It is also a wonderful opportunity to expand my network by meeting both current and earlier trainees.

What are your expectations with this programme in Höegh?

I look forward to getting meaningful tasks and learning as much as possible during the rotating period, as well as gaining a thorough understanding of the market demand and how different operational units altogether contribute to the value chain. At the end of the programme, I hope to develop relevant skills and experiences that will help excel my career in Hoegh

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

In five years, I want to be recognised as someone with great expertise within the maritime sector and hopefully have gained sufficient leadership experiences to become a team leader myself.
