COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update – 15 April

15 April 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause disruptions, affecting people and businesses around the globe. In this volatile situation, our thoughts go out to those impacted.

Our priority continues to be the wellbeing and health of our crew, employees and business partners, as well as mitigate impacts on our operations.

Höegh Autoliners is following developments closely and applying precautionary measures accordingly. To limit the spread of infections in the community, our land-based employees continue to work from home. With schools and day care facilities remaining closed in many regions it adds to the complexity of the situation. We are proud that our employees continue to support our customers and ensure business continuity.

Our crew maintain stringent health and safety procedures whilst at sea and in port. Global travel restrictions remain, prohibiting our crew from crew changes. This has meant many of our seafarers have extended their time at sea. Thanks to the support and commitment from our colleagues on both land and sea, we continue to operate in this challenging situation.

With authorities around the world extending lockdown periods, factories around the world remain closed. This has resulted in many automotive and equipment manufacturers reducing volumes substantially. We understand this is a challenging situation for everyone, and we are working hard to support our customers and ensure sustained operations. In this exceptional situation, we may need to adjust our services to match the demand in volumes.

Currently, all ports we call are open, however, with the additional restrictions placed in ports around the world, we continue to see reduced labour availability, increased congestion and space constraints in certain locations. The stricter measures means entering a port may take more time than normal, and slow down our operations. Whilst we may experience slight disruptions in some ports, we will endeavour to maintain a timely service to our customers.

We will keep you updated on any specific changes it may entail. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local Höegh Autoliners Representative Office
