25 June is observed worldwide as the Day of the Seafarer, with this year’s theme “seafarers matter”. The purpose of the day is to recognise the contribution of the 1.5 million seafarers for their role in international seaborne trade, the world economy and society as a whole.

According to the IMO, ships transport almost 90 per cent of the world's goods. Seafarers are not only responsible for the operation of the vessels but also responsible for the safe and smooth delivery of the cargo.

“The Day of the Seafarer" logo seeks to celebrate those people working in the industry, making it clear that seafaring is inclusive and a career at sea is suitable for both men and women.”

In Höegh Autoliners, we have close to 1400 seafarers sailing on every ocean in the world devoting enormous efforts to deliver cargo to our customers all over the world. These men and women work out to sea for many months at a time, in order to keep our international trade operating smoothly.

We would like to take this opportunity and thank you seafarers for the hard work you put into international shipping and the sacrifice you make being away from your loved ones in order to keep the wheels of the world in motion.
